# The Deep (World Bosses)

Six Ancients rise from the Deep: server-wide World Bosses fought by every Defender together for prayers, Fragments, relics and Champion titles.

The Cult has discovered six **Ancients of the Deep**, each ruling its own world. They are **World Bosses**: enormous health pools that every Defender of the server fights together, on Discord and on the website. Each Ancient has its own mechanic.

On the website, open **The Deep** (key `2`): the list of the six Ancients on the left, the selected one on the right. On Discord, press **Deep**, then **Engage** on an Ancient. In the Discord list, 💥 (or 🧹 on Mholg) marks the Ancients you have already struck during their current step, and the **ℹ️** button next to the title opens the rules of The Deep in a window.

### Striking

* You have **5 strikes per day**, shared by all six Ancients and refreshed at the daily reset (00:00 UTC).
* After a strike, a **cooldown of 6 hours**, also shared by all six Ancients, applies before the next one. A Red Boar halves it.
* **Each strike also uses one of your operations of the day.**
* **Bonus strikes**, received as Cult Blessings at the [Altar](/guide/bastion/altar.md), are used once your free strikes are spent: they get around the daily limit, not the cooldown.

The status rail of the website and your Base on Discord always tell you when your next strike is ready.

### Damage

Before you strike, the game shows your **expected hit**, as a range. Your damage has two parts:

* your **gear**: the pieces you have equipped, with a bonus when your set is complete;
* your **on-chain combat score** (Attack and Defense in the main game), capped at **2,500 per strike** (7,500 against Xenoth).

The result varies by about 10% from one strike to the next. A Krag'Ul Ember relic adds 25% damage to your strikes.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Ancient presets.** In the Armory you can prepare a loadout for each Ancient (and for each limb of Tarrok, or for Mholg's Cleanse). With auto-apply on, it is equipped just for the strike and your usual gear comes back right after. See [Armory](/guide/bastion/loadout.md#presets).
{% endhint %}

### Rewards

All six Ancients share the same reward structure:

* **Every strike**: a 0.5% chance to tear a **Fragment** from the Ancient.
* **Every step cleared** (a phase broken, a wave repelled, a limb crippled or a health threshold crossed; the final blow counts as a step too): every Defender who fought in that step earns **+1 prayer** (up to 6 held), and the [Altar](/guide/bastion/altar.md) is restocked with a third of the relic sponsored by that Ancient.
* **When the Ancient is repelled**, every participant receives a **Quantum Chest** and has a **20% chance of a Quantum Key** (more with Wrath, see below). The **top 3 by damage** receive the Ancient's sponsored relic for free, and a lucky draw gives it to other participants, about 20% of them in total. The **top 15 by damage** become **Champions** of that Ancient: a Discord role and title, and a 15% discount on its relic at the Altar.

Under each Ancient you can follow your own contribution: your damage, your rank among all fighters, and whether you have already struck during the current step. The **Rewards** button of an Ancient (Discord), or the **Rewards** panel below it (website), lists exactly what each strike, each step and the repel give. When an Ancient is repelled, the World Boss channel of the Discord server announces the Champions and the relic winners.

{% hint style="info" %}
Each week, one Ancient is **featured**: the *Weekly* badge on the website, the **⭐ Weekly bounty** line on Discord, with the relic it is worth. Repelling it completes the Directive "Repel the featured Ancient", rewarded with that relic for free. See [Operations](/guide/bastion/missions.md#directives-weekly-quests).
{% endhint %}

**Weekly stats** (Discord) sums up your week against each Ancient: attacks, damage, Fragments, Quantum Keys and Chests, repels and prayers, and the cleanses on Mholg.

### Wrath

Each time an Ancient is repelled, **its Wrath rises to the maximum (level 5)** and the Wrath of every other Ancient goes down by 1. A repelled Ancient resurfaces after 24 hours.

Each level of Wrath makes an Ancient tougher (+50% health, or +35% regeneration for Sahl'Goran and Mholg), but also more rewarding: +1% chance of a Quantum Key on the repel and a bigger restock of its relic at the Altar. Repelling the other Ancients in the meantime calms the one that was just beaten.

### The six Ancients

The health values below are those at Wrath 0.

| Ancient                     | World  | Mechanic       | Health                                     |
| --------------------------- | ------ | -------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| Kor'Vethra, the First Woken | Magor  | Siege          | 3 phases: 300,000 · 450,000 · 600,000      |
| Sahl'Goran, the Devourer    | Veles  | Enrage race    | 500,000, regenerating                      |
| The Hollow Brood            | Naron  | Wave defense   | 3 waves: 150,000 · 280,000 · 420,000       |
| Tarrok, the Colossus        | Kavian | Weak points    | Legs 200,000 · Arms 200,000 · Head 300,000 |
| Mholg, the Plaguemaw        | Neri   | Affliction     | 800,000, healed by spores                  |
| Xenoth, the Void Leviathan  | Eyeke  | Void Leviathan | 2,000,000                                  |

#### Kor'Vethra, the First Woken

*A mountain of living stone, a molten heart beating behind its shell.*

A **siege** in three phases: the **Carapace**, then the **Veins**, then the **Heart**. Each phase broken is a step.

{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

#### Sahl'Goran, the Devourer

*It eats its own wounds. Hesitate, and everything you tore away grows back.*

An **enrage race**: its health regenerates on its own (12,000 per hour), less and less each time a threshold (66%, then 33%) is crossed. A timer of **72 hours** runs at the same time: if Sahl'Goran is not repelled before it ends, it enrages, heals every wound, loses its Wrath and is sealed in the Deep for 48 hours.

#### The Hollow Brood

*Not one beast but a thousand, pouring from the breach in waves. Hold the line or lose ground.*

A **wave defense**: three waves, each with its own health and **24 hours** to be cleared. If a wave holds past its deadline, all progress is lost and the Brood is sealed for 48 hours.

<figure><img src="https://content.gitbook.com/content/6kbcVlkhhuJRfUuLf7Tt/blobs/4yLWXnIkrcAaSbdVebDP/image%20(23).png" alt="The Hollow Brood"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Tarrok, the Colossus

*Too vast to fell head-on. Each part answers to a different strength.*

Three **weak points**, each with its own health and its own **Strike** button: **Legs**, **Arms** and **Head**. All three must be crippled to bring the Colossus down. Each limb is **weak to one Rank of gear**, and the weaknesses are reshuffled each time Tarrok rises. Strike a limb with gear of the matching Rank and it takes the full blow; otherwise your blow only chips it. **Which Rank each limb answers to is secret**, on the website as on Discord: the game shows the range of your hit, and the result of a strike tells you whether it was **effective**. Strike to find out, and share what you learn with the other Defenders.

{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

#### Mholg, the Plaguemaw

*Every wound you open weeps spores, and it drinks them back to mend.*

An **affliction**: every strike leaves **3 spores** on Mholg, and each spore heals it over time. Next to **Strike**, a **Cleanse** button removes **5 spores** instead of dealing damage. Cleansing has its own ranking: the top 3 cleansers also receive the free relic when Mholg is repelled.

{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

#### Xenoth, the Void Leviathan

*It does not dwell in stone or flesh, but in the lattice between worlds. Only true power reaches it.*

The biggest Ancient, and the only one where your **on-chain combat score weighs three times more**: the cap of that part of your damage is raised from 2,500 to **7,500** per strike. Big accounts hit much harder here than anywhere else.

<figure><img src="https://content.gitbook.com/content/6kbcVlkhhuJRfUuLf7Tt/blobs/gJsb3monkfXC0tySmqvK/image%20(26).png" alt="Xenoth, the Void Leviathan"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### After a strike

The result shows your damage, your total against this Ancient and your rank; on Discord, **Back to the Ancient** returns to its screen. On the website, the **Strike setup** and **Rewards** panels below the Ancient detail your expected damage and what each step and the final repel give.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://planetary-defense-guide.gitbook.io/guide/bastion/the-deep-bosses.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
