# Grade and Level

How Discord roles, Grade, and mission Areas fit together, and how to earn the points that unlock them.

Your Grade is your Discord role, and determines which Areas and Shop tiers you can access in the Discord Game. The higher your Grade, the better the missions, rewards, and equipment available to you.

### Warlord vs. Mercenary

Grades are split into two tracks, depending on how you play:

* Warlord — for players who own Alien Worlds (AW) land and are playing Web Game V2.
* Mercenary — for players who don't own AW land or play only on V3.

### How to earn Grade?

Your score is the sum of your total ATK and DEF stats from both Web Games — but the requirement is different for each: on V3 your NFTs need to be staked and used in a Division to count, while on V2 it's enough to simply hold them in your wallet, with no staking required (but you still need an account on this version of the game). Using V3 is recommended, but any NFTs you still hold on V2 add to the total too.

Track your score at any time from Discord:

* /grade-list — shows the score needed for every Discord role.
* /stats — shows your own current score, broken down by version (V2 and V3), plus your combined total.

### Grade thresholds

These are the scores currently needed for every Discord role, as shown by /grade-list:

### From role to Grade

There are 9 Grades per player category. But for now, only the first 3 have an utility on the Discord Game.\
Additional Grade will soon be required to unlock further areas—such as when Area 4 and any subsequent areas are released.

Below are the first 3 Grades that unlock the currently active game features.

* Grade 1 — Praefectus Sociorum (Warlord) / Munifice (Mercenary) — 2 points
* Grade 2 — Tribunus (Warlord) / Immune (Mercenary) — 400 points
* Grade 3 — Legatus (Warlord) / Decanus (Mercenary) — 1,000 points

### Grade, Areas, and the Shop

Your Grade unlocks Areas and their matching Shop Tier:

* Area 1 + Gear T1 = Grade 1 (at least)
* Area 2 + Gear T2 = Grade 2 (at least)
* Area 3 + Gear T3 = Grade 3 (at least)

You can also unlock an Area purely by mission count — for example, 1,000 successful missions unlocks Area 2 even without the Grade 2 role. That gets you the Area's weekly missions, but **it will not unlock the matching Shop Tier: for that you still need the actual Grade role**.

### Can your Grade go down?

Yes. Your score is tied to your Division's current stats, so if you unstake or move your NFTs in another wallet, your score can drop below a role's threshold and you'll lose that Grade.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://planetary-defense-guide.gitbook.io/guide/discord-game/grade-and-level.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
